Smalley People

These pages will eventually be a combination of pedigrees, wills and stories about the people of Smalley. Over the centuries many names appear in the life of Smalley - some occur for generations, marrying into other family lines; some disappear after generations and others arrive and move on, leaving a transient impression on the village. I hope to trace the family lines of some of those names that were part of Smalley for generations. Hopefully researchers will find names of interest to them and equally, that more information may be added through further contacts. I started this work on the Smalley families using Parish Register and census data from my own files; progressing then to the volume of pedigrees made by the Rev Charles Kerry, which is held by Derby Local Studies Library. I could not have achieved these results without the efficient and helpful service of the library team, who have kept me supplied with copies of the relevant pages. A note of caution: there are a few mistakes in the Kerry pedigrees and some of the 'detective work' has been achieved using the IGI as a directional tool. So as always, data on these pages should not be treated as a primary source and should always be verified. All the links should be functioning properly but I would be glad of feedback on any problems.
