This is a revised version of the Martin and Handley
family line, based on Rev Charles Kerry's theory that Thomas 'Banker' Martin was
connected to the Martins of West Hallam.
However, using the work of Jack Hartley, it appears that there were two Thomas
Martins in West Hallam at that time; one from Mapperley and the other possibly
from Hasland, near Chesterfield.
It now seems likely that the Rev Kerry, like
modern researchers, assumed that 'Banker' Martin was from Mapperley,
whereas he was more likely to have come from Hasland.
A good example of how not to take anything at face value!
